I have found Gilbertson's understanding of this subject to be in-depth, wise, empathetic and professional. Not only have I read her book, I joined her online Reconnection Club (mentioned in her book) that connects me not only to a host of valuable information and resources on this subject, but also to other parents estranged from their adult children.A common complaint among us parents of estranged adult children is not understanding why our children no longer seem to want us in their lives. Gilbertson's book, however, sheds some light on this often perplexing matter. I have come to see my part in this painful situation and how our family history might have affected it. The book provides tips and tools for how to deal and cope with estrangement, including ways to communicate better or let go temporarily if need be.Mainly this is a book to help repair relationships with our grown child or children.
